Panther Chameleon Care
A quick reference for keeping your panther chameleon healthy and thriving. This isn't exhaustive — reach out any time with questions specific to your animal.
Enclosure
Adults do best in a well-ventilated screen or hybrid enclosure, minimum 24"x24"x48" tall for males. Live or artificial planting for coverage and climbing routes at multiple heights.
Temperature
Basking spot around 85-90°F, ambient mid-70s to low-80s during the day, dropping into the 60s at night. Always provide a thermal gradient so they can self-regulate.
Lighting
A quality UVB bulb (5.0-6.0 linear tube recommended) running 10-12 hours daily is essential for calcium metabolism, replaced every 6-12 months even if it still lights up.
Humidity & Water
Mist 2-3 times daily or use an automated misting/fogging system. Humidity should swing between 50-80% with a dry-out period. A dripper helps encourage natural drinking behavior.
Diet
Gut-loaded crickets, dubia roaches, silkworms, and hornworms in rotation. Dust feeders with calcium (most feedings) and a calcium+D3/multivitamin blend 1-2x weekly.
Handling
Panther chameleons are display animals, not handling pets. Minimize handling to reduce stress — let them come to you rather than reaching in frequently.
Every animal is a little different. If something seems off with your chameleon's behavior, color, or appetite, don't hesitate to reach out — we're happy to help troubleshoot.
